Symptoms

The symptoms of Myasthenia Gravis may vary depending on the muscles affected by the disease. Symptoms often are exacerbated by activity and diminish with rest. Following are some common symptoms that might be indicators of this chronic neuromuscular disorder:

  • Double vision
  • Drooping eyelids
  • Difficulty chewing
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Weakness in arms and legs
  • Shortness of breath *
  • Difficulty breathing deeply *
  • Inability to cough *

* In worst-case scenarios, patients with respiratory difficulties caused by MG may require hospitalization.
